everyone was given life.and the same years and days they were blank but you make them up
some know what to do with that life others they break down not knowing what to do.
and some people have high hopes while others dont have hopes at all.

Life is what we make it. Some will squander the gift and debase the marble. Some will dedicate their life to a higher purpose and honour their religious beliefs and their God. The poem seems to suggest such dedication is the one true way to beat death.

the author describes people as artists born with a block of stone (life).
through life, every person can do what they wish with that block. they can abuse it, or do something beautiful with it. But just as an artist can only work by daylight, one can only live while alive.
so seize the day.
